they have had parvo vaccinations and been dewormed. flea medications and very healthy. They are from a stray that my husband and I took in. She is great and we had her spayed a few weeks ago because we want to keep her. But I really can't keep any of the puppies (as much as I want to)!
Also, any advice on free ways to advertise would be great!
And please don't send me any hateful remarks about bringing puppies into this world and not wanting them! I took in a stray and have spent a lot of money to get her shots and spayed! I have had my older dog for the past nine years and she is spayed also and has always been vaccinated and well taken care of.
Last time I asked for help with the puppies I got some rude answers and got accused of being careless and cheap.
So, that's why I wanted to clarify things this time!

I wish more people took on a stray and cared for it the way you have!!!!!!
You shouldn't have to keep the puppies, but finding them a good home is important. Free doesn't give the new owners any sense that the pup has any value. Even asking $25 is better than nothing. If you think you could get more ask! But don't come down, the animals are not retail merchandise and should go on sale! So pick a fair amount. Statistically, the more a person pays for the dog the less likely they are to get rid of it.
Also, a contract of some sort that will state things like spay/neuter, no chaining the dog up, keep them UTD on vacs. If possible get a puppy starter pack for each pup from your vet with a business card, crate training, proper food, and the like.
Also, ASK questions. You have every right to choose the best possible home for these dogs. I would also like to tell you that it is great you kept them for this long. The behavioral problems caused by folks getting rid of puppies at 5-6 weeks is horrible.
Again thank you and good luck!

First of all, thanks so much for being such a wonderful dog owner! I think a lot of the dog people on here get really defensive because there are so many people who post questions that are obviously irresponsible people looking to make a fast buck off their puppies. You are clearly NOT one of these people and I applaud your efforts to help out a dog in need!

I would recommend charging about the same price as the local animal shelter would charge as an adoption fee for their animals. I am sure if you call a few, you'll get a general idea. I know Ontario the general adoption fee is from 150-250 dollars. That will help you cover some of the basic costs and will also help weed out potentially bad owners (i.e. People who want to use the pups for research, or are financially incapable of owning a dog, so they are trying to get a free one). Another idea is to charge a little more (say $350) and offer to refund $100 when the new owners provide you with proof the pup has been spayed/neutered.

It might be hard to sell mutts (I mean that in the nicest possible way, I adore mutts and will never buy a purebred again- my dog was a stray). There are alot of people that want designer doggies and purebreds, competing with that could be difficult. So, you could start at $20 a pop maybe? If you plan to advertise, make sure you put "labs unwelcome, good home only". We had a whole bunch of science labs down here buying up puppies and kitties to test horrible things on, it was awful. Other than that, good job for taking in a stray and getting her all fixed up and spayed. We need more people like you scooping up the ones that get tossed aside.

I just want to say first, that I don't think that you are careless or cheap. Anyone who asks for help with this kind of situation really does want advice, and should not be ridiculed for what they need help with. I would say about $100 for each puppy would be fair, but also let them know that you will take best offer. It would be nice to make sure that you get your money back for what you spent on each puppy. But on the other hand, just because someone cannot afford or does not want to pay a couple hundred dollars for a puppy does not mean that they will be bad owners. Some of the best homes that dogs/puppies get are those who went for free. Just remember that too. The best thing for them is to have a life that is good.

I would look into finding a place that will do free/low-cost spay/neuters on the pups - many will do it at eight weeks when they can leave their Momma so that others do not purposely breed these babies.

Other places you can look for help are putting up ads with local vets offices, Petfinder.com (might even be able to get a rescue to help list them, too!), pet stores, etc.

Make sure you screen all potential puppy homes and do vet references, etc. (I've got a adoption application if you'd like to IM me to use it. :) ). After all is said and done (depending on the vet costs) anywhere from $100-150 is reasonable for rescued pups who're vaccinated and spayed/neutered and wormed. We've charged (as a rescue) closer to $200-250, though to deter would be bad owners.

You guys did a very nice act by taking in a stray. I have done a lot of fostering for the humane society here in our town.
Try looking in the paper or on-line locally to see what the going price is. I would charge for what you have invested in the puppies already. Make sure you meet the soon to be owners to see that the puppy are going to a loving home. Ask them questions about their lifestyle etc.
Good luck and I hoped this has helped.

Bless you for taking in mama and her babies. As to how much you should ask, how much do you have invested in them? It's not cheap to feed, house and take pups to the vet and get puppy shots and well puppy care. I guess I would add my vet bills and food bills together and divide by the number of pups you have and then add onto that your time and energy. Because they are a mixed breed pup you certainly can't ask purebred pup prices. We adopted a mixed breed from a shelter and we had to pay $125.00 for her. She was 1 year old, had been spayed and was up to date on all her shots. Part of that money went to the shelter to help with upkeep.

Congradulations on trying to be responsible. I would recommend pricing them reasonably. Maybe just to get the money you spent on shots back. Also some advice would be to tell the buyers where the mom was spayed and recommend them to take the pups there. Also give them info. on how old the pups can be before they can be spayed or neutered. You would be surprised how many people do not know this. Also RECOMMEND neutering! Puppies have to have a daddy! Any info. to the buyer would be very helpful.

You may want to try to contact a rescue group in your area for help finding homes for these guys. Most of them make people go through an application process, and do home visits, etc. to make sure the pups end up with permanent, loving homes. Rescue groups usually have set adoption fees. This way they won't end up being pregnant strays like their mom!

Advertising, u could put up puppy fliers, with PUPPY in capitals and bold, to attract attention, idk if the pennysaver is free but u could use that. I think it is great that u are trying to find homes for these puppies. It isn't ur fault that the dog had puppies in the first place anyways. I am only a kid so i wouldn't know how much to sell them for but maybe u could try $50-$100, i don't know, its up to u....Hope I helped!!!
