It has to be small, friendly, needs little grooming which means no $100 checks to the groomer, and also needs little exercise but I can still take it for walks and is ok alone for 2 to 3 hours a few times a month well what kind of dog should I get?

I would say first to get a mixed breed from a shelter just because you will probably spend less on vet bills as well (mixed breeds tend to take their best health traits from each breed, and avoid the common health risks associated with each).

If you want to limit exercise and play time to simple walks, I would opt for something in the toy breed sector. But avoid smaller breeds like Jack Russell Terrier/Rat Terrier mixes because they are small but big-dog in the energy factor.

Any dog should be fine alone for 2-3 hour increments, so long as its over 6 months old. Puppies are like babies and should be attended to nonstop.

If you go to shelter, ask them for their advice. See if there is an SPCA in your area. They tend to know their shelter pets well and can reccomend based on each dogs personality.

A breed that fits your low grooming/low exercise/small requirements would be a chihuahua/mix, and there are TONS at shelters (www.petfinder.com).. and so long as they are socialized properly, they can be very friendly.

I had a Schipperke for 14 years. Great little dogs, very smart and while I had to brush her out in the spring, they have a double coat, no trips to the groomers and she really didn't shed much otherwise. She was housebroken completely by six months, and could stay home alone during the day and be fine. Now, I did have to socialize her - get her around lots of people and other dogs - because the breed can be a bit territorial. Overall though, one fantastic dog.

A pomeranian would be good but its hard to find a frendlier one. Shitsu would probally be best and as for grooming brush it two or three times a day and give it a bath every 5 months & you won't have to take it to a groomer, just buy a brush and use human shampoo it works better enless the dog has sensitve skin.

this is large that you're waiting for a dogs. you'll like it! I only ought to assert that possibly you should imagine about getting a dogs from a good breeder who tests for the known such issues as eyes, heart, knees, hips because on the grounds that this is a dogs you truly opt for have prepared for, you do not opt for a sickly dogs with a adverse history. save in ideas protect and rescue dogs are frequently dogs from puppy shops so that you ought to be in for some heartbreak down the line besides as severe clinical costs. i comprehend. I were given a dogs from a rescue that has all forms of themes and could fee a fortune plus it may not make it. next time i'm getting a healthful dogs from a breeder.

I think you should get a chihuahua. They're small and really friendly. you don't need to groom them too much unless you get a long-haired chihuahua. They don't need too much exercise, they need to take walks though. They're ok alone, but sometimes they bark, so you would just have to make sure they don't get too obsessive over you

I work at a Dog Day Care and I'd have to say that a 3 or 4lb chihuahaua is what you're looking for. Just be sure that if you do get one that you train it well... they tend to yip and ignore you if they haven't been properly trained.

There is no dog that needs little excercise. If you are confined to a small space, try a toy breed... chihuahua, bichon fise, pomeranian, etc.
