I'm not sure how linguistics validates the claim... can you provide links? I'm interested. I think aesthetics would be an obstacle. We "identify" best with people that look like us or the people from our place of origin. Naturally we assume our god looks the way we do. Others might find the habit of seeing Christ with an aquiline nose and as a brunette hard to break. The imagery most commonly used has been ingrained in our associations. So if we're not seeing this ideal, we're not seeing what we recognize as God. The beauty part is that Christianity itself, His teachings, compel us to love and accept one another. If it could be proven that He appeared as a black man, anyone claiming to be Christian- or honestly trying to practice their faith -would have to accept and love Him as such. It's my feeling Christ most likely was black or a melanin-rich version of Middle Eastern. I'm a caucasian Westerner and I have absolutely no problem with that - though I have to admit that when praying I visualize the typical portrait. "Inherently racist"? Really? Really really? So disappointed. For a second there, I thought this question was about something.

Okay white cristian is different from racist christian...I can honestly say it would not bother me. My dad is mostly native American and my step mom is Black. Both are beautiful intelligent people and successful in their own right. They have a beautiful daughter as well. Oh and you might take a look at the whole Moses Tzipporah thing. She was probably Ethiopian (black) and Moses was not , yet when Miriam started arguing with him about it, she got kicked out of their camp by God.

I am white. I would be very surprised if Jesus were NOT a gentleman of color, whatever the race. I think it's only reasonable given where he was born and lived his life. And no, that doesn't upset me. It's been years since I thought he was a white guy with a nice, clean, soft brown beard and hair trimmed shoulder length!

I figure He was pretty brown, but I'd be confused if He was Black because it says He was a "Semite" which means he was descended from Shem the Son of Noah. That includes the Hebrews and the Persians. The Blacks were descended from Ham another Son of Noah who was the father of Cush(Somalia,Sudan and Ethiopia)and Mizraim(Egypt and Libya for example). But he is what he is,I can't change that.He still is Lord.

Wouldn't bother me a bit. However, I think that the event of His return would be so amazing that nobody would be wasting their time worrying too much about racial issues. And I figured out fairly early that Jesus probably didn't match the snow-white, blue-eyed image on the European holy cards the nuns used to give me.

I think if Jesus came back nobody would believe it was really him. I think Jesus would be way more dissappointed in his followers than they would be of him being a different color, though.

Well, if Jesus came tomorrow, say, in front of my house and was black, I would be extremely surprised. Not because He's not white, but because he doesn't look Middle Eastern, which would make the most amount of sense to me.

I wouldn't be upset. I would say: "Welcome back, soul brother!! Gimme some skin!! Man, where is dat ol jive turkey Satan at? I bet he chilling down there in hell wit Micheal Richards and Mel Gibson, huh?? Man, you got some GOOD hair!! They must have some banging barber shops in heaven, bruh!!"

If he came back as any other race, I would speak to him in an overly false stereo-typical style speech typical of that race....

why do some people like to stir this up about Jesus?

he was God in the flesh and came through the birth canal of the virgin mary a Hebrew! now israel is not in africa is it?
so why do people insist that he was african?
just to stir up the racial hatred and division
he is coming back in his Godhead form so his color aint gonna matter because your butts going to be on the ground declaring Jesus is Lord
