I don't agree with the premise that the suppression of uncomfortable ideas is common in Christianity. Christians who have been gifted and called to be apologists for the faith are happy to discuss seeming contradictions between science and the Bible. As such a person I have no problem shooting down scientific theories that claim that inanimate matter just came alive all by itself and that time plus random mutations culled by generations of natural selection turned a one celled creature into a fish into an amphibian into a reptile into a small mammal into an ape like creature and then into a human being. Do you know how many suppositions you have to make to support that theory? It's a huge house of cards that has only sketchy supporting evidence that doesn't really support anything besides the notion that the theory of evolution might possibly be true.
It's more reasonable to support a science fiction scenario that intelligent beings are responsible for all of the millions of complex and interdependent life forms on this planet that it is to believe that they "just happened".

What??? I disagree and that statement has NOTHING to do with the argument of intelligent design.
Since when do Christians suppress uncomfortable ideas? Maybe you should read some Martin Luther writings.

No, not for me. Like I said, there is proof of evolution on this planet. Maybe God created Adam and Eve. If He did, there were certainly other people here on this planet before that. Personally I think the bible is fiction. I can see how Intelligent Design is a logical explanation for the creation of the Universe. What created God? I have no idea!

The fact that men are all sinners, doing irreparable harm to one another and to their environment is definitely an "uncomfortable idea"...but Christianity does not suppress it...
It provides a solution.
But, there is no place for that solution in men's hearts.
That is why the world hates Jesus and hates His followers......

I agree with the statement.
For the sake of religion and science we need to keep the two at a safe distance from one another. Both would benefit.

Absolutely agree.
And the uncomfortable fact for chrisitans, is that they have NO evidence to support the childish notion of "ID". None at all.
Evolution on the other hand, has literally millions of peer-reviewed evidence.
So much for mythology.

agree and it does, as ID seems to enjoy quote mining and suppressing counters to their IC mechanisms.
to be expected from psuedosciences, i guess.
