frequent earaches?

My female friend keeps getting earaches. What is the cause? And how can she prevent them?

I am an Audiologist...

Different things cause ear pain (otalgia), other people also use the phrase "earaches" for ear infections... could you add more details?

My neice get ear aches all the time and the Doctor suggested chewing gum, it worked as she is earache free.

i dont know about why...but try warm veggie oil on a q tip...sounds weird i know but it helps!!
