Get him a girlfriend to cheer him up and catching have you tryed tossing like a small towel over the duck and then grabbing it sometimes thats the only way besides a net with birds it sounds mean but you don't want to hurt the little guy

As birdgirl mentionned, if it's a wild duck leave him be. Anyways it would be illegal to go catch a wild duck like that. If its injured then contact a wilflife rehab center and they'll help you out. If its domestic, find out if its someone's, if not contact the SPCA or an animal shelter in your area. Just don't go release a domestic duck out into the wild, bad for the environment bad for the duck.

If it's the same approach as a goose then from behind and carefully hold him pressing the top of his wings into his body. Otherwise, there is a strong danger of breaking his wing.

Not quite sure how you can tell he is depressed but a key thing for a duck would be other ducks.

This is tough. I would get a local animal officer (RSPCA, RSPB or similar) to help you as you need a special long handled net and a special box to carry the duck in.
Another option would be to get more ducks released in the pond from a sanctuary to keep him company.

Is this a wild duck?? Why can't he just fly away himself. If it is wild, leave it alone, it will figure out when it needs to fly away. If this is a pet duck, then you should not release it into the wild.

I'm not sure about catching him just don't hurt him, you could cheer him up with some beer and music and a nice hot water bottle

Catch him in a basket filled with pudding, and he won't get hurt. To cheer him up, give him some tea and quackers. Whatever you do, do not give him a down pillow.

Stop chasing him around, maybe?
What about getting him a duck buddy?

I have always liked Ducks. Ever since my Pop told me "Son, remember this. There's nothing like a good Duck".

(Although after his Stroke his speech was a bit slurred.....)
