I just finished my internship for a U.S. Representative at DC. There are 9 staff that work in that office and I do plan to send a Christmas card, but do I need to write one for each person or just send one with everyone's name on it?

Also, should I write a separate one for the Representaive even though I've only seen her 3 times while I was working there for 3 months?
-I worked with the staff more closely than the Congresswoman and the most I've done was greet her.

Thanks!

Yes, yes, yes. Anyone who knew you by sight should get an acknowledgment. It's the gracious thing to do.

A great general rule is that if you ever wonder if you should send a thank you note, just send one. No one has ever been offended by getting one, and thank you notes are a great way of making yourself stand out from other people in your age group.

In this case, I'd make an even stronger point for sending individual notes to everyone you worked with. These people are ideal sources for college recommendations, and later, pointers to work. I'd recommend not only sending thank you notes, but keeping them all on your Christmas card list (and making sure that you include a personal note each year.) Yes, definitely send a separate note to the Congress woman! Keep in touch with her, too.

Ten thank you notes should take less than an hour to write. You don't have to go on for pages - just a mention of something the person did for you - even if it is just as short as "Thank you for the opportunity" or "Thank you for letting me explore our government..."

This must have been a great chance for you. I hope you go far.

If you can and have the time then send each one a card because its more personal that way. also everyone loves receiving cards especially around the holidays and by you sending the card it shows to the person that you really did care to take the time out of your life to sit down and write a card. As for the Congresswomen, why not it wont do any harm if you do send her one right? You could ask your fellow workers if they will be sending or not, might help out.

I would send each of them their own Christmas card and write a quick little thank you for everything they have helped you with. As far as the Congresswoman goes you will need to send her one too. Besides it will not hurt you to send everyone a card and it truly isn't a big cost.

I would write one for the Representative because she is the main person, and the reason you are there (if I understood the scenario). It is a very nice gesture, even if you did not have a lot of contact with her, she will appreciate it.
and then send one other card for the entire staff, wishing them a merry christmas.

send one to each person,it would be more personal
if each one on the staff to include the representative each
got their own card.get diffrent cards to each, don't use the "cookie cutter" meathod of a one size fits all.get the representative a card all her own.if you wish to convey that you have a recognition for each of the staff menbers
accomplishments then you must do so one at a time,it maybe more work but it's worth it in the end.As for the congress woman, she was your boss and murphys law on politics state that she could very well be again someday.
and you need her to remember your kindness and selfless acts.

I think you could just send one card to the 9 staff workers and I'd send a card to the Representative also. I think it would be a nice gesture

If they all helped you, I would send individual cards. Possibly personalizing them with with thanks for what each person has done in helping you finish your internship.

I think you should write one to the Representative. Even though you didn't see him / her that much, he / she deserves some kind of recognition for helping you get this far.

I hope I understood this question right.

yes and yes.
Even though you have only barely met her - in the vain of standing out and (kissing booty) enhancing your career opportunities - it would be very appropriate to send the rep her own card. you never know. yes - it may end up in her fireplace but she may read them or have someone read them to her and she will think that was sincere and special.

as far as the office: if it was me - and you are close with them - it may be worth the effort (only 9) to get individual little card and write a note to each one. depends how friendly you are with them.
if not - one card to all with a fruit basket would be cool.

Thank you notes should be individual not generalized. You need to write each one (including the congresswoman) their own and thank them for something specific you gained from working with them.
One card would be very tacky.

YES! For heaven's sake yes! The fact that you are even asking the question, shows that you know it is something you should do! It will take, what a whole half hour of your time? Trust me, people remember people who take the time out to make a small gesture like that. And you want to be in politics, honey you WILL be remembered!
