I don't mean the rye breads you can get in Tesco or Waitrose but actual pumpernickel. I remember having a sort that can in flat round discs with an intense sharp flavour and anothe sort that was more like regular bread with a golden brown crust. Any ideas where I could buy these?

Tesco and Waitrose do not do the kind of pumpernickel I am thinking of. They do the typical packs of rye bread. I am thinking of a sort that came in a packet like a biscuit packet. It was dark and almost sour and came in flat small discs. My father used to buy it in London, but he can't remember where. I'd like to get him some for Christmas if I can locate any in time.
