Adam and Eve indulging... the concept!

If Adam and eve did not exist... there would not have been any human beings! The first of the species of human beings the revered Adam and Eve were the first to surface on Mother Earth as human beings. Their direct ancestors being the ape family!

Now Adam and Eve came onto this Earth. They had both to act as a family. Both were son and daughter of God. That made them brother and sister. How come they could have fathered children?

In the initial stages of development of human life... nothing existed which we could have called as society or community. It was a raw savage world. As per the theory of Charles Darwin, "it was the time for survival of the fittest". It was the time to do and die.

Words like ethics and morality did not exist for even words did not exist during those times. The Lipi (written form of communication) was developed at a much later stage in time.

Even a brother and sister relationship did not exist at that time. There were only two human beings who had surfaced on Mother Earth. They had to copulate and produce children. They did not do it intentionally. They never knew anything about it.

It was that it happened. They did it and something was born. At that moment of time they would have been extremely surprised not knowing what to do about it. Eventually they would have realized it was one of them.

They reared that child and with passage of time another child was born. This time it was a female child. As this small family progressed further... this male and female child copulated at the appropriate time. And the whole family started to grow.

Now there were two families. With passage of time many more families came into existence. Until this point of time there was nothing like morality and ethics that played any role. For the sake of their survival and progeny these families kept on multiplying.

This was the only way to keep intruders at bay. They had to protect themselves from the wild beings roaming Mother Earth.

Ever since the Revelations of God came into existence... the human being who had invoked these words of God realized that the system had to be ordered at some stage. And some system of morality and ethics came into being.

As of today... the copulation by the children of Adam and Eve was a sin but at that time it was not a sin for the relationship of brother and sister never existed in those times.

The development of relationships in human life came at a very later the stage. It was only possible when the community would have developed into a massive strength. Population somewhere in thousands would have prompted the wise and the elders of those times to separate out into distinct families.

We need to understand that whatever is truth today may not hold tomorrow. In a scientific developing world the values whether they are ethical, moral or otherwise keep changing.

We also need to understand that during the times of Mahabharata... the battle was fought using swords, horses and elephants. But now the warfare consists of atomic bombs, missiles and chemical warfare. More on adam and eve here- http://www.godrealized.com/dharma_definition.html

It has to do with the flood.

Now before you flake on me...this is what I was taught in my Fundie Christian High school. Since I asume your asking for the Christian Theological explanation, in an attempt to point out the insanity of the Christian religion, in a thinly veiled attack from an Atheistic viewpoint, reveling in the wonders of Science, I'll answer with the theological answer as it was taught to me many years ago...

In the Bible, before the flood, the days of man were much longer thn they are now, some of the Biblical patriarchs living for hundreds of years. Now then, in Genesis 7:11:

In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and "the windows of heaven were opened."

In this verse, is the idea of, The Windows of Heaven. This is taken, from what I was taught, that there was water above the earth. There was the waters of the ocean, the rivers, and above, was a layer of water in the higher atmosphere. This acted as an additionall filter of cosmic radiation.

Now, post the flood, the lives of humans grew short and shorter, due to the now increased bombardment of cosmic radiation. In some of the studies I've seen on aging and cosmic radiation, this is not too far out there science wise. Now this also had the action of causing more mutations in the human genome, and, as any gentecist would tell you, stray radiation causes mutations, mutations are 99.9% bad, and mostly they are recessive. This is where the shortened lifespans, and incidence of genetic disorders came from.

In a way of looking at it, this is the legacy of the wickedness of humanity prior to the flood, a shortening of life, and genetic disorders...

So, take it how you will, this is how it was explained to me, in my Fundie High school biology class, about 30 years ago...

Since Adam and Eve were the first (and only) human beings, their children would have no other choice than to intermarry. God did not forbid inter-family marriage until much later when there was enough people that intermarriage was not necessary (Leviticus 18:6-18). The reason that incest often results in genetic abnormalities in children is that when two people of similar genetics (i.e. a brother and sister) have children – genetic defects are far more likely to result because both parents had the same defects themselves. When people from different families have children – it is highly unlikely that both parents will have the same genetic defects. The human genetic code has become increasingly “polluted” over the centuries as genetic defects are multiplied, amplified, and passed down from generation to generation. Adam and Eve did not have any genetic defects, so that enabled them and the first few generations of their descendants to have a far greater quality of health than we do now. Adam and Eve’s children had few, if any, genetic defects. As a result, it was safe for them to intermarry. It may seem strange or even disgusting to think of Cain's wife being his sister. In the beginning, since God started with one man and one woman, the second generation would have no choice but to intermarry amongst themselves.

Once they fell, you'll notice the life spans got shorter and shorter until finally from 900 year lifespan they dropped ,after the flood to an average of 120 years. After that,David says a man is lucky to live 70 years.
They were perfect, and the environment was perfect, but because sin entered the world,so did genetic disorders ,pollution, murder etc.It took many thousands of years,it sort of peaked in the Middle-Ages where the average man lived to 45,you were ancient if you lived to 60.Now we are getting to around 75 and hopefully in the future we will climb back up.

random mutations and the fact that these diseases are often recessive traits

it could happen, and probably would have, but personally i dont believe in the adam and eve story....i prefer the theory of evolution

plus since when were adam and eve perfect??
didnt they allegedly eat from the tree of knowledge??
lol
funny how the bible thinks knowing good and evil is so wrong

That is a really good question. Adam & Eve were both made perfectly. But when they brought sin into the world, they brought all of the wretch in the world including: sicknes, sin, disorders, etc.

They didn't evolve, obviously God created them exactly as they are today, just like everything else. But, because God is so gosh-darn shifty, He added complex records to our DNA so that when atheist scientists studied them, it would seem as though they had evolved right along with our species, over millions of years. And of course the foolish scientists completely fell for it, just like those foolish paleontologists with their "dinosaur" bones. Isn't God clever when he does that? Doesn't it make you want to laugh and laugh at those foolish scientists, while you praise God and his Eternal Shiftiness?

That's easy. Remember the number line in math, the negative went one way and the positive the other way?

Well, think of it going the negative (leading to death and decay) way when they disobeyed G*d in the Garden Of Eden. In another words, only geting worse and worse, final outcome, misery before final death!

It would of went the other way (positive leading to everlasting life) had they obeyed G*d. This way would of gotten better upon better till you attain final perfection by having glorious eternal life!

2006-12-10 19:11:36 · answer #8 · answered by Anonymous · 2 0

Adam and Eve were perfect until they used their free will to disobey God. They were told that the price for disobedience was death. That was a price because they were made to live forever. Satan suggested to Eve that God was lying, that she would not die, however, that is just what happened. Then God told them

Genesis 3:17-19: "And to Adam he said: “Because you listened to your wife’s voice and took to eating from the tree concerning which I gave you this command, ‘You must not eat from it,’ cursed is the ground on your account. In pain you will eat its produce all the days of your life. 18 And thorns and thistles it will grow for you, and you must eat the vegetation of the field. 19 In the sweat of your face you will eat bread until you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken. For dust you are and to dust you will return.”

They were cursed by God from that moment on and could only pass on their imperfection. Just like if a cake pan gets dented, then every cake baked in that pan has the same dent.

Romans 5:12: "That is why, just as through one man sin entered into the world and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men because they had all sinned"

Sin is like missing the mark of perfection.

Once they sinned- their bodies started decaying, corrupting and dying THAT VERY DAY!

Gen 2:17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for IN THE DAY that you eat of it you shall surely die.

Adam & Eve gradually started dying on that very day!
