First off, lets agree that rascism means that you believe one race of people is superior to another or that you are prejudiced towards someone based on their race.

If I say to someone, "I don't like your hair" does that mean I don't like that person entirely? Am I being prejudice? Not necessarily. I don't like my sister's hair, and I love her. So my real question is this:

If I don't like a certain stereotype about a race of people, does that make me rascist?

I don't like people from Ecuador because they all ride turtles. That doesn't mean I hate all Ecuadorians does it? Because the truth is I love them. So how can I be rascist towards someone I love? Explain that.

I think some people are afraid of what they really think of other races because they are afraid of being labeled rascist.

You are not racist. You see individuals for who they are, not based on the color of their skin or racial background. While there may be certain stereotypes about a race that turn you off, it does not keep you from appreciating individuals from that race.

Racists are usually ignorant people who don't really know anything or have any contact with too many people.

Racists hate people they have never met, based on the BS fed to them about racial stereotypes. Racists think all people from a certain race are a certain way, so they hate them for it. Racists hate groups of people. You hate stereotypes. That's totally different.

It's probably hard for you to understand the racist mindset because they are so ignorant and stupid. I have never met a smart racist. Every racist I have encountered are people who don't know a damned thing about anything. I don't think it's a coincidence.

Your argument doesn't make sense to me, but I understand the main point enough to say that I agree with that.

Racism is overused, and sometimes people accuse others of being racist just to silence them. You're absolutely right.

The turtles stereotype doesn't help your argument here. Instead, why not say "Even if all Ecuadorians rode turtles" or "Even if all black people were bred to be athletically superior" or whatever?

That way, you're acknowledging it's a stereotype and saying you don't care, rather than saying you actually think the stereotype is true.

Good luck.

The problem is the news media, and th egovernment.
Any tim eyou don't agree with a black man you are assumed to be racist.
A school comes to a ball game with an all black team they are acceptable in the eyes of the federal government, A scool comes ot a ball game with 60% white and they are a bunch of racist under federal guidelines.
Not agreeing with his makes me a racist.
I don't care for black culture, music or history . This doesn't make me a racist.
I don't care for islamic men and their religion has a lot ot do with it. The treat women like animals, and the world seems to ignore it.. If the religious establishment spent 1/3 of the time and effort to bring the plight of muslim women to the public and demand change as they do trying to prove me a racist than the world would be a much better place to live. Also millions of muslim women would be free. yet religion is afrain to tread where minorities trample on the rights of others or their own.

If you had said "I don't like people riding turtles", then that wouldn't be racist because that would mean that you don't like the act of people riding turtles, whoever those people happen to be. However, you said "I don't like people from Ecuador because they all ride turtles", where you single out people from Ecuador specifically AND make a broad statement that they all ride turtles. That makes your remark racist. At least as far as Ecuadorians are concerned.

You went from making a non-racists remark about hair to making a racist remark about Ecuadorians, because you didn't apply the same guidelines to the second remark that you applied to the first.

Being racist and hating someone based on their race. Or believing a certain stereotype about a group of individuals are both signs of ignorance. However, are two totally different things entirely. God bless****

Umm, I see where you are coming from. I, for one, dislike the fact that many Mexicans are coming over here illegally and living off the advantages of the United States..that angers me, but that doesn't mean I hate all Mexicans.
Also, how you said people are afraid to say what they really think of other races, even if it's not a racist thought: I agree..but most of that is because ANYTHING you say these days against a race means you are "racist" to them. Like all the stupid bleeding heart liberals calling us anti-illegal immigrants "racist"...purely pathetic.

It is racist and prejudicial to make any kind of blanket statement like all Ecuadorians ride turtles.
All means 100% never was one that did or didn't.

Read Carl Jung's explanation of the shadow side of the personality. We all fear what we dislike in ourselves.
Nothing good comes of pigeon-holing or stereotyping any person or people. We're all individuals even if some look a little similar.

Racism is only a problem if you treat these people differently because of that "thing" you dont like. Something can bother you about someone but unless you discriminate against them because of it, you are fine.
