If you were not married--there will be no father's name on the birth certificate unless paternity was established in a court of law or by a signed paternity acknowlegement form. So no--if you're not the named father on the birth certificate--you don't pay.

Federal law states--There will be three chances for the man to take a DNA test in which the government will cover the costs thereof, if he refuses or cannot be found he then will be named the Father by default to show for said tests. Then a letter of confirmation will be mailed and the Mother can choose to be the name on the Birth Certificate; however child support will then be order based upon the individuals income. If the man wishes not to pay support and he believes he is not the Father then HE must then pay for a DNA test and prove so BEFORE the child support will be terminated. If it is then found that he is indeed the father, then the father will have the option to place his name on the birth certificate and adjust the ordered child support through court action.

Depends.
Keep in mind we're talking about Can't Steal Enough: or Child Support Enforcement, so the three cardinal rules apply; no pity, no mercy, no common sense. They will allow a woman to lay a claim on any man and it will be up to him to prove he is NOT the father. He has no right of privacy and no right of innocence beyond a shadow of a doubt. So the best advise is to get the dna test, and if it's not his, sue the witch for defamation.
What they have to do is prove some sort of connection to the father. A marraige certificate is usually enough.

in the state of tenn. the father has a obligation and that is to take care of his child. so yes the father does have to pay child support if it is court ordered his name does not have to be on the birth certificate if he acknowledges that the child is his, furthermore , you/he can always add his name to the birth certificate. this would be for the child's best interest especially if something was to happen to the father then you would have that as proof when applying for social security.

No name on the birth certificate?
No proof? or DNA testing?

How did the courts ever get you to pay in the first place?

no, he does not have to pay child support unless his name is on the birth certificate or you have proven with a DNA test that he is the father.

Yep and the court will order a swab test and if hes the father he's going to pay till that kid is 18. A name is just a name but DNA is totally conclusive.

Anytime, anywhere you are asking for child support, there will be a DNA test done. So regardless of whether or not his name is on the BC, yes, after he is proven to be the father, he will have to pay or go to jail.
