If you're in the woods and a helicopter with heat seeking equipment flies over and you wrap yourself in a solar/survival blanket,can the chopper see your heat signature?

No, because you're in the woods, the helicopter can't see you through the trees! I don't know if you meant this to be a trick question or not. But, it's a good question if the person is in a more open area, and let's say at night. In that case, I don't know the answer.

As a firefighter I used to carry one with me everywhere. I also used to teach remote sensing at a university. "Space blankets", as they used to be called, (when they cost $$$) are amazing, but no real thermal blanket to today's IR imaging. The cooler the temperature the harder it will be to hide. You might avoid a quick pass IF the blanket didn't have any heat from your body associated with it, but heat would start to bleed through in a second or two.
