I'm not a Baptist, but can assure you that salvation by grace is a major component of Baptist doctrine. They believe in atonement by the blood of Jesus Christ. Many of them are also Biblical literalists, believing that the Bible is the inerrant, inspired world of God. They believe in baptism, but not for infants. There are many, many different types of Baptists, though, so you might want to research the various groups to check their specific doctrinal positions.

Baptists come from the joining of two different streams of Christian tradition: the Reformed stream and the Anabaptist stream. In the essentials they agree on the basic doctrines of the Christian faith: one God expressed in three Persons, Jesus Christ as one Person with two natures (Divine and Human). Baptists affirm with other Christians that people can experience salvation because of the work of Christ.
Baptists have some beliefs that are more particular to them, as well. We do not baptise infants, but put baptism off until a person can ask for it and understand it for themselves. We believe in the separation of church and state, holding that only God, and not the state, can rule the conscience. We believe that the Bible has a special place in the organization of the church and in the life of the believer, and that the Bible, and not the church or tradition, mediate the message of Christ. We believe that churches are local bodies and shouldn't be subject to a larger church organization. We also affirm the equality of all believers, trying to downplay as much as possible the distinction between clergy and laity.

1. God is the creator and the ruler of the universe. God exists in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
2.Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
3. The Holy Spirit is Co-equal with Jesus and God. He is present in the heart of every believer, and is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus. He is the Christian's spiritual guide.
4.The Bible is God's infallible word.
5.There is a literal Heaven and a literal Hell.
There's more, but those are a few highlights.
My church is a member of the Southern Baptist convention.
