That's like asking if there are pros and cons to rainfall or tornadoes. Since we have no way of stopping these things we have to consider that climatic changes can be beneficial as well as harmful but it's all part of the ecosystem.

One thing we do know is that we have no ablity to change these effects any more than we can divert a hurricane or even predict where it will go. So we can neither cause nor prevent global warming, if it really is happening. Many scientists believe we are in a cycle of warmer climates much like in the middle ages. In the 70's they called it "global cooling" and we were going to have an ice age before the 80's came around. Well that didn't happen, did it? I'm just always skeptical when money's involved. If you look behind what these advocates say you'll find money and politics lurking in the background.

That being said, I did a search and found some links. I put them below. One thing you ought to know is that almost everything shown in Al Gore's movie was to create a conclusion that he wants you to reach, but the truth is that no scientist knows for sure. It's all theories. So be aware that many are manipulating facts and half truths to get to their own beliefs and agendas. I find that despicable and misleading, but you can make your own judgements.

I read a complete article on the false allegations in the movie "An Inconvenient Truth" but I can't find it on the internet. Maybe I'll find it later and post it here. It was in magazine called NewsMax, the July 2006 edition.

Here are some of their findings:

1) Gore implies that the Aral Sea has been drying up due to global warming, but it's actually because the former Soviet Union diverted the rivers that once kept it full.

2) Gore says the ice caps on Mt. Kilimanjaro are disappearing due to global warming, but the British science journal Nature attributes this to the fact that humans have cut down forests, producing humidity around the volcano.

I wish I could type in the whole article, but it's 14 pages long !

I hope this will get you started on finding out the truth. It's sad that people use natural climatic changes in order to further their political and monitary gains, but I guess greed is a strong motivator to deceive.
