I've wondered this myself. Can thinking thoughts of hatred be a sin? Some say yes, others say no... Regardless, whenever I repeatedly have hateful thoughts, they creep into the way that I act, either toward the object of my dislike or in other ways.
"For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. To set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God's Law, indeed it cannot; and those who are in the flesh cannot please God. But you are not in the flesh, you are in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you..."(Romans 8:5-9)
I'm thinking hatred is not from the Spirit, so we shouldn't think of it!

Hatred of people is probably the worst sin because it could lead to all other sins. To hate a person is the same as being a murderer. God does not hate anyone just our sins so nobody should hate another person for any reason.

Yes, it is very important that you forgive and forget Hate, anger & fear, they lead to insanity, & all sorts of disease. Actions in thought word an deed create your life circumstances. The greatest "SIN" is believing you are separate & apart from God., all other sin eminates from this one. The essence of you being is unconditional love.

Hate is the seed of destruction and so must be removed from thought before it grows into hateful words or actions. Actions and words make known the heart. You control hate by understanding creation and God.

You will act on it in small ways even if you manage to avoid the big ones. It will come out in the words you choose, your body language, you'll make choices based on it and find ways to rationalise them.
Hate is hate. Don't go there.

Hate is an important sin. One of the Ten Commandments is Thou shalt not Murder Exodus 20:13
The Bible also speaks of hatred as murder.
"Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him." 1 John 3:15
In the eyes of Jesus our Savior, he can see the intentions of our hearts, so if we hate someone we murder them in our hearts.

I do not believe in sin, but I do believe hate is unhealthy and we are happier when we learn to let it go.
