For the past few weeks my fingernails have been growing faster than normal. I've had to trim them almost once a week, before it was only once every month. And fingernails are supposed to grow slower in winter as well. And I'm 20, so don't say it's puberty.

I'm not asking how to get them to grow faster, I want to know why they are growing faster than they were two months ago.

Hey, I saw where you answered that question about having dreamed you're a wolf! Admit it, you're a werewolf, right?

But, seriously, it's probably a combination of hormones (they control stuff like hair and skin, which is why people can speculate that it's just puberty) and diet (lots of silica and calcium, vitamin B especially biotin, etc.).

It's considered a good thing if your nails are strong and grow fast so count your blessings.

I think fingernails, as well as toenails, grow faster if you eat a lot of meat or other protein. Mine seem to do so.

There is some stuff called Hoof and Mane for horses that a human cab use to strengthen nails. You can buy it where other such nail products are sold sometimes. Or you may find it at a feed store.

I am also curious as to why I have noticed my finger nails growing faster out of the blue in the last few months? I have changed nothing and am a 51 year old man? Like the younger gentleman said above, all of a sudden I am trimming my nails once a week instead of once a month or so.
