You would have found out long before now that you were going to have twins, especially with all of the technology that we have now!

Congratulations!!! You're doubly blessed! Most twins do deliver early, at the latest 35 weeks. The uterus is just not designed for litters! If you go into labor before 28wks, (a very real possiblity) most docs will try to stop the labor. Then you get bedrest and medication either at home or in the hospital, depending on multiple factors, until at least 28 weeks. Then, if they have to, and sometimes they do have to for the babies' well-being or for your health, they will perform an elective Cesarean Section for delivery at 28wks. But at that time in gestation, every day counts as far as fetal maturity (primarily lung maturity)goes, so if all is well and you and the babies can physiologically maintian for a couple more weeks, you're wise to wait as long as you can. A 30wk infant will spend many less days in the NICU than a 28 wker. So as far as your question sounding like you'd like to get your husband home for the delivery, I wouldn't count on it. You can have a plan, but things can rapidly change in a multiple pregnancy, necessitating a change of plan. Best of luck- stay in close contact with your doctor, and ask him how he prefers to manage a twin pregnancy. Many doctors will not even consider a vaginal delivery these days due to liability. There are some situations with strict criteria where the possibility of a vag delivery can be entertained. There are still risks, however, and I've been in few that went very bad, very, very quickly. So keep yourself informed, discuss a plan with your MD, and tell your hubbie the good news. You'll make his day!!

I suppose you mean that they confirmed you are carrying twins. You might have them between 32 and 36 weeks, or possibly carry to term. Longer is better, and you might be put on bedrest at some point if you have preterm labor (could happen anytime after 20 weeks). Best preventions: make sure any infections, like bladder infections or vaginal yeast are treated promptly, stay hydrated (10 glasses/day non-caffeinated liquids) get extra 50 gm protein /day - particularly making sure you get 4 or more milk servings daily.

What do you need advice about? Telling him? Or what to do with twins?

I would just tell him. Why is it a big deal? You have to tell him. You never know, he may be excited. Besides, you can get both kids outta the way with one trip to the hospital. Congratulations, by the way.

Tell him ASAP! He should know about this especially if the twins are his. I'm pretty sure he be overwhelmed and excited to hear the good news.

You need to get off your computer and tell the man he's having twins.
