I found the most bang for the buck in my Onkyo. I got a lot of watts and digital inputs for less money than Denon or Yamaha.
Harman Kardon is great if you don't have a budget.

If you really don't have a budget...try looking into Mark Levinson and Audio Research.
On the audiophile used end...Bryston, Threshold, Krell....
All excellent Class A equipment...except for Bryston..they have their roots in professional.
Remember...a company that makes an amplifier and preamp doesn't necessarily make a great CD player.

BOSE is one of the best you'll find. But KLIPSCH is the best. It's also more expensive if you're willing to spend the extra money.
