Interrupt and make the statement . . . "That's interesting, but what about ^ ^ ^ ^ (change subject)" or " Excuse me...that's interesting, but I've got to go now". Sounds like you don't value this person to retain a friend, so this is a nice way to get away from the person, if the person finds what you did as rude, they might not talk to you any more . . . Hmmmmmmm ?

This could be tricky depending on who the person is.
1. If its a co-worker.....explain you have an important call to make and then make one.
2. If its a "friend"....pretend like your cell phone in your pocket just vibrated and start talking. Walk away saying the call is important.
