you said diets, and that's partly true. In the distant past, there wasn't a great variety of things to eat; you were tied to what could be grown locally. A lot of food went into storage for the winter and lost vitamins as a result. Now we can refrigerate and freeze food so it keeps its nutritional value.

medicine is another factor. Previously incurable illnesses are now curable. Most cancers are now treatable, but it used to be that The "big C" was a death sentence. Diabetes and appendicitis are also treatable now when they used to be killers. Antiseptics and vaccines have dealt with most of the serious diseases.

Another factor is pollution. Air and water are much cleaner now without all that factory gunge in it. this is because laws were passed to control pollution, and industries adapted new technology to be less polluting.

Hope this all helps!

I think you are mistaken. People before the flood during the days of Noah and before lived much longer than we live. The longest anyone has lived since is not much past 120 years if that far. The general idea is that better nutrition and medicine are contributing to slightly longer lifespans. The average was 62 for a man when I was a child. Today it is in the mid 70's. That is not much of an improvement compared to the hundreds of years reported in the bible. I guess it's enough.

Better food, better homes, less physical work, better medicines. Common killers such as pneumonia and small pox don't kill people anymore.
