Dogs can't fake death, but they can have a condition of the heart that causes them to appear dead, or faint called syncope. If your dog is experiencing this, it needs to see a veterinarian immediately and be referred to a cardiologist.

If this question is in regards to the dog that you thought was having a stroke, the dog may be having a seizure or maybe is having a stroke. It should be taken to the vet unless it really is dead.

Bloodhounds can look dead but they are not faking death, just very sleepy.
