just because we don't believe in god, it doesn't mean we don't have virtues and a moral center. Many atheists are better people than those who are not!! As an atheist, i am a person who does good because i know that it is right and not because im afraid of god or hell or wan't to be sent to heaven!

I'm sick of this "atheists don't have morals" nonsense first of all. Anyone who says that is, by the way, implying that the only reason they aren't out robbing and killing people is that they're sucking up to some invisible man in the sky. If you ask me, doing good for good's sake is far more moral.

Secondly, I'm tired of this "you don't understand X" stuff. Oh, I don't understand? I need to read the Bible with the eyes of faith? Tell me, friend, do the eyes of faith make the mass-slaughter of firstborn Egyptian children in Exodus acceptable? Does the Holy Spirit change that story into one that's morally acceptable? Does the Holy Spirit explain the blatant contradictions all over the Bible? The blatant immorality, endorsements of slavery, deplorable racism ("God's chosen people?"), and infanticide you find all over the Bible?

Third, I'm tired of tired of faith being a sacred topic, beyond rebuke, while according to the Univ. of Minn, almost half of the American public wouldn't vote for a qualified atheist for president.

But most of all, I'm tired of religion. There is no God and you know it.

I am fed up with Christians and other religious people presenting fiction as fact in a most rigid and dogmatic way. The arguments presented by the overwhelming majority of Christians are childish, ludicrous and factually incorrect.

I am also fed up with the hypocrisy and intolerance that many of these Ned Flanders clones exhibit.

As a non-believer, I see all religion as outmoded and irrelevant. But, there is no point in being an atheist without using your brain. I see lots of people on here just trashing religion, like chavs trash passersby ( ! ). If atheism is to be respected, we need to do less of the "christ sucks" stuff and more of the reasoned debate. I know full well that as someone said, "reasoning with a believer is like playing chess with a pigeon", but we owe it to ouselves to try. Also, we see lots of christian and bible-targeting, whereas I see problems with faith in general, not just christianity.

I believe in the bigger picture. That there is a powerful energy that created life with the birth of the planets and evolution. I do not believe that we stemmed from one man and one woman. I do not believe in the bible as it's written by man and not by god. I do not believe that god would want people killed in the name of god.

Nobody on this earth will know what the truth is on any story until we die and then we find out for ourselves. Upon leaving this earth we will find out the meaning of everything. I do not believe that we will burn in the fires of hell for not following the words of a certain church or book.

I also do not believe that you care what our beliefs are or what we think. You are just opening up a channel for others to vent their feelings for you and your other religious friends to give us thumbs down.

On the day you die you will see the bigger picture.

Hello my (presumably) non atheist friend. I hope your day is good and wish you no wrong.
I believe in morals, and can sleep well at night.
Many followers of 'beliefs' do not have morals and rely on absolution to get away with the evil things that they do.
Therein lies one of the primary reasons for 'religions' to be thought up by the human animal - so people can get away with murder (and other things). Blame it all on god !!!!!

The lack of public acceptance for a “lack of belief” definition of “atheism” is reflected in the fact that no reputable dictionary has a “lack of belief” definition for either “atheism” or “atheist”
. However, this has not kept a few morons from incorrectly claiming that various dictionary definitions have a “lack of belief” definition.

I have a piece of wire here on my desk - no matter how much I try it's never actually straightened. Must be a symbol of my mediocrity against something or other. I bet you can find something in the bible that explains it.

As a catholic one should respect all others, even though I know some are horribly wrong in their ways of thinking, such as atheists.

Evolutionists DO NOT believe we came from monkeys, and Pascal's Wager IS logically invalid.
