I hate that word, here in south texas everyone uses it, "Hey Buey ven" or whatever. Any mexicans know what I mean? Esta Raza nunca se compone.

Yes Im mexican-american, some people misunderstood what I meant, what threw me off was when I heard a parent calling their kids that.

I get what you are saying, it's the same with the word "carnal" my husband uses it all the time and it drives me crazy. I tell him, "no, all your guy friends aren't your brothers!" but what can I do, it's been that way for as long as I can remember. But don't take it personal; if you don't speak that way great!....but you can't change the world!

The word "buey" in Spanish, means only "ox". Period.
Perhaps south Texas is full of oxen.
By the way, raza is not spelt with capital R

In principle the word buey is a castrated bull in spanish. (Spain)

Now the use they give it in Mexico I am afraid can only be answered by a Mexican.

Yes, it has a lot of meanings. According to the way you describe the use, it can mean, "Guy. Dude, etc." Why are you upset with the way a language is used when it isn't even your own?
