2. We do not worship moon - we worship God

4. We do not worship a rock - we turn in the direction of Kabba, which symbolises our unity in directing

5. We are not terrorists - God said ''Thou shall not kill'' .... pretty clear to me

6. There is no thing as 72 virgins as a reward for killing someone

7. Jihad is not a religious war in blood context - Jihad is a struggle with infidel within oneself

8. Qur'an has not been changed

9. We do not encourage terrorism - had to say it again

10. We do not stone to death anyone, we do not kill in the name of God

wow I can go on for a long time with this one, but im only going to name a few.

Islam and the misconception that it puts down women.

Islam does not promote sexism or gender inequality. Islam does not say that women should not be educated. Islam does not say women cannot work. Islam actually promotes obtaining knowledge. This goes for both sexes. Islam also allows women to work. Islam also allows women to choose thier husbands.

What distorts this is culture of the people who practice Islam. When they start mixing in their own culture with Islam disaster comes and people get the wrong view on Islam.

Another thing is that Islam does not promote slavery. At the time of the Prophet there was no such thing as large jails or supermax prisons. So what did people do with POWs. They made them slaves. The thing is the Islamic ideal of being a slave and the western ideal of being a slave are two different things. In Prophet Rasullulah's time a slave could win his freedom by teaching others how to read and write. A slave could participate in politics. A slave was supposed to be treated fairly and justly.

Islam does is not a relgion of hate.
Islam does not hate any other relgion. Islam teaches tolerance and respect. But unfortunately some twist Islam's message and do acts of terror. These are minorities though. You have to remember Islam is the 2nd largest relgion in the world. If the majority of Muslims believed in the message of hate wouldn't their be a lot more chaos? Most Muslims are tolerant and denounce the killings of terrorists.

Muslims worship the Moon God Allah.
This is entirely untrue.
Muslims worship God. Thats it.

Muslims worship Muhammad.
NO this is acutually a sin in Islam to associate anything with God.
A companion of the prophet Abu Bakr had said when the prophet died.
"Muhammad is dead, but God is alive"

Muslims believe suicide bombing is right.
No this is entirely untrue. It is one of the gravest sins to take ones life. Only God can decide when he will take your life.

One thing I want to add is that Islam is a preventative relgion. Sure it may seem strict, but it prevents us from doing wrong. An example would be the prohibition of alcohol. We are not allowed to drink this. Why? Because it can lead to many bad things. How many people have died this year because of drunk driving? How many famlies have been torn apart because of it? How many relationships have been destroyed because of it? Islam prohibits this to prevent us from hurting ourselves and others.

I hope I set a few things straight. If I have said anything wrong it is my fault and If I had said anything right than it is because of God.

the quran (holy book) says not to kill any human beings either if they are muslims are non-muslims and killing urself is a;so forbidden, thats a fact!!
so is it our fault that some radicule people interpited the quaran wrongly and carry out crimes in the name of god, which god would actually encourage killing ???
unlike the bible where it has been changed to meet the current PC people ie women can be priests, gay people also can become priests, marriages to either sex ect..

So many misconceptions....... One would be that muslims want to kill all 'infidels'. This is so not true.
Another one is that Allah is a "different" God or "the moon god". Allah is the Arabic word or name for God, there's only one God, we call Him Allah, some call Him Jehovah, some say Yahweh, but the fact remains, there is only one God.
Those are the two main ones.
And I agree with the person that said "you're so cool" I wish more were like you, the world would be a better place if we all found things we agree on instead of fighting.

Well there are lots of misconceptions. One thing I come face to face with a lot is the one I'll concentrate on.

I actually chose to cover my hair and my body and nobody had any say in it. My parents never forced me, none of my friends really did it, none of my family really did it, so it was my choice because I understood it from my religion, it made sense to me and when I tried it, I loved it. So for those people who say "I can't agree that someone would willingly cover themselves," I would like to clear up that all the women I know (except maybe 3-4) all did it as a choice of their own. And though their families may or may not have practiced it or encouraged it, their family and friends repsect their decision. :)

I still have a choice to remove my clothes at any time, but I don't wish to. I feel more confident and respected when I'm covered and I truly see it as a security, protection and a modest attire for my inner and outer self. :)

-I converted BEFORE I got married to my husband (I also started wearing hijab before), in fact I didn't even know him until 4 years after my conversion. This is extremely common among American female Muslim converts these days.

-Prophet Muhammad (saws) was NOT a war monger
-Muslims do NOT want to convert the world or kill them
-Muslims do NOT hate Jews
