Would like to make a correction if I may to a poster; stating that Roman Catholicism started in 590 A.D. after Constantine made it legal....actually it was the Roman Catholic faith that started in 30 A.D., and "Christianity" as known now, many splinters of Protestantism occurred after 1527.

But I would say oldest religion; that would be Judiaism. Adam and Eve were the first humans; created. And they worshipped God in the manner of the Judiaic laws.

Paganism. It's an umbrella that covers any polytheistic nature-based system of worship, so I guarantee it appeared long before any of the major religions practiced today.
Anyone who answers with any of the monotheistic religions is just plain wrong - the oldest monotheistic religion is only 4000 years old. We know from cave paintings that people were worshipping gods over 100,000 years ago. These ancient primitives assigned gods to the things they needed - Sun, Moon, Rain, Woolly Mammoth, etc. This would be called Paganism.

I have heard that the worship of a Mother figure of Earth is the oldest. It is the forerunner of modern day Wiccan. I do not tout this as a fact, just something that I read.
