The French are not cowards. For example I am sure that you have you not heard of the Free French, of The Resistance of the fighting in Algeria (rightly or wrongly) - accusing the French of Cowardice is unacceptable. They disagreed - wrongly - with the rest of NATO about Iraq but that does not expunge the heroism of past wars and conflicts.

No the tricolour of the French still flies with pride.

Why did you not make this question in jokes ? About military you apparently know nothing. The French do not surrender much more than other nations.
I like the British more then the French but this is over the top.

To answer your question with a joke : why do the French surrender ?
Because they do not have a navy to save them when its becoming to hot and the English are leaving their allies alone in the ****. (Dunkerque, Dieppe, Greece, Kreta, ...)
You liked that ? Of course not. Think again before making any new "jokes".

By the way when the Navy is not there the British know also very well how to surrender (Hong Kong, Singapore, Yorktown, ...)

You should be ashamed and learn some history before.

To Rob the Crusader : the colours have nothing to do with the Union Jack : hereunder you find a explication from Wickipedia :
The origins of the tricolore are said to be a rosette, created in July 1789 during the French Revolution, which used a combination of the colours of the coat of arms of Paris (red and blue), symbolically separated by the royal colour (white), with the combination often being credited to the Marquis de Lafayette. There are many theories and suppositions about the choice of colours and indeed Lafayette's involvement in the process. One theory says that Lafayette was inspired by the colours used by the American revolutionaries; another that it symbolised the control of the people over the monarchy (Paris' colours - blue and red - bording monarchy's colour - white) at a time when parliamentary monarchy was still seen as a possibility in France; another that the French design and scheme originated with the Dutch flag - the first tricolour.

I'm sure that must a big problem for france as the only effective military unit they have is made up of foreigners and as for the free french well if they hadn't surrendered then they would not have to rely on women and children fighting when all the men were drinking red wine and eating something with garlic in and for the comment about them not having a navy to rescue them more f**g's oops french where taken of the beaches of Dunkirk than British soldiers I'm sure the french navy would do the same and finally Kreta??? do you mean Crete old bean ?? well the french would have been there fighting with Greece and Great Britain of course HAD THEY NOT SURRENDERED, the invasion of Greece was after the fall of france so history is a wonderful thing OLD BEAN.
ALSO RIK ? ITS IS RIK ISN'T IT ??? WHO IS ROB???? how can anyone take your comment seriously when you can't even read a name correctly UNION JACK?? don't you mean the flag of the united kingdom??so Where did the Americans get the red white and blue from??? answer,s to I can't read but will write parts of a passage that fit my view at the above lol

I know where you're coming from. The best ever, was a letter in the Times some years ago by a gentleman who described the French as a nation of collaborators.

Good question but the white cross is quite well camouflaged.

No they've changed it to a clock to remind the USA to turn up in time for the next world war. Why are you always so late?

Not surprising, they change from friend to foe fast enough. You
would be stupid to trust them as an ally in times of crisis like
Iraq or the Falklands.

I'd heard they'd just swapped the red and blue for white.

Do you know the first thing they teach recruits to the French army? It's how to say 'I surrender' in German.

Cheese eating surrender monkeys.

lol
