Be the alpha female. No matter what you do, never let a friend take your man! This happens all the time in america and it ruins friendships. I may be male, but i know alot of things. Sit down with your friend and tell her that you are interested in dating the lucky man. If things go wrong with him like you find out he isnt a nice guy or something about him makes you sick, then tell your friend. You shouldnt let a guy seperate you and your friend. You should ask the guy if he is interested in you yourself to make sure.

Well, you should probably sit down and have a talk with your friend. Tell her that you care about her so much and love her, but you have feelings for this guy. Ask her if she likes him A LOT like you do. If she says yes, than ask yourself who is worth more to you, your friend or this guy. If she says she doesnt like him that much ask her if she would be upset if you pursued this guy. Don't do anything that would hurt her though because if she is your friend for 11 years, than she should be worth more than a new crush. good luck!

Your friend does not sound like much of a friend to me! Either you have a friendly relation which extends to understandings over possible boyfriends, or else you agree that your friendship does not extend to that area. Either way she is out of line. She is trying to bully you rather than reach an agreement with you.
My advice? Let that guy show who he would enjoy the company of! Make him aware of your interest...

Your friend has told you to "stay away" I think you need to respond with a "I love you but piss off" and go after the guy anyway. But NO GUY OR GIRL IN THE WORLD IS WORTH LOSING YOUR FRIENDS OVER. Period. End of story.

i really hope it works in your situation- the same exact thing happened to me. i met this guy because my best friend liked him, became best friends with him, and fell for him. What i did was talk it out with her, and eventually she just forgot about him and I almost went out with the guy, but the story goes kind of weird from there.
just tell her how much you care about him, but make sure you let her know you don't want to hurt her feelings. he's also interested in you and not her- make sure she understands that but don't let it make her think that means you'll forget about her feelings for it.
haha another thing i considered was trying to find another guy from her. but it all depends on if that would work for you.

does the guy you like, like her? i think you both should drop him if you think the friendship is valuable. it seems like you want to keep the friendship with her, but if she's going to tell you to leave him alone, then what kind of friend is she? it doesn't seem like she wants to have a true friend relationship. even if you let her go for him, wouldn't she feel awkward around you? it's just an opinion.

If she likes him then it only means that your friend is putting him, a nearly unknown person, over you, her 11 years friend. So, in this case, you have the advantage cuz he has confessed to someone else that he likes you, so, take profit of that advantage!

Do you like the guy more than your friend? If she is your friend, she can understand and let it go. If the guy you likes doesn't like you then let him go and let your friend have him, but if he does like you go for it. You don't want to lose a guy you like because of your "friend". If the guy you like does like you, your friend can let it go. A friend is someone who can understand you and sacrifices some stuff for you. I say, go for the guy.
