I really love Apex Merlot, it's $25 a bottle. Also, Red Velvet, which is only $23 a bottle.

My favorite Red wine is one that is served at Olive Garden. It is called Lambrusco Reunite. In my opinion, it is probably the best red wine I've ever had, plus it's cheap. . . Just dont buy it at Olive Garden. At a beer store, the bottle is anywhere from $5 - $9, depending on which size you get. At Olive Garden, it's about $14 for the small bottle.

I never met a red wine I did not like. I think they are all good. My personal favorite: 1978 Sangre de Toro imported from Spain. It translates to "blood of the bull." It is a very dark red and richly favored wine. For the right bottle of wine, price should never be an issue.

Riunite Lambrusco
Kind of fruity, not very tart (IMO), smells great, and usually under $10 for a bottle.
I usually prefer white wines for their flavor, but this one is also enjoyable.
There's also port, the dessert wine. It's higher in alcohol than most other wines but is thick and sweet ... goes well with chocolate. Prices really vary on that one as I don't have a specific favorite.

Syrah
Syrah is a hearty wine noted for its complexity of aromas and flavors including raspberry, plum, smoke, and white pepper. It is a dark red wine, sometimes almost black in color. This wine is also called Shiraz. Syrah is great eaten with duck, wild game, steak, and beef.
Here are some recommendations of highly rated Syrah that I enjoy: (available for purchase at site below)
Bodegas Salentein 2003 Syrah - Syrah/Shiraz $19 from Argentina
Jacob's Creek 2003 Reserve Shiraz - Syrah/Shiraz $13.49 from Australia
Yangarra Estate 2004 Shiraz - Syrah/Shiraz $20 also from Australia

Oh MY God!!
Those first 2 are great wines but WAY to expensive...unless you're trying to impress someone.
If you REALLY want a fantastic red wine, go to your local wine store and ask to speak with their wine salesman and tell him/her what you might like. They LOVE to talk about wine and most of them will help you find a great wine for a reasonable price.
Personally I like Italian reds like Ruffino Chianti ($15) or Bolla Valpolacellia. ($9 or 10) They are both light, dry and flavorful.
BTW- Lambrusco is CRAP...but to each their own I guess.

Mad Dog 20-20 is the best on earth! Not industrial wine. It's made from real grapes.
