NEVER get a used one! Bc you dont know if it has been in an accident or recalled.
If yuo must buy one and are SURE that its never been in any type of accident (even a minor one) then look at the manufacture date a Carseat is only good for the 1st 6 years after that it is to be distroyed! bc it begins to wear with weight and sun damage

I got 2 for my daughter from walmart..one is the simple type that is just a booster style..check size and height requirements on the box in the store..it was under $20. The other was a booster with back and arms that uses the actual shoulder seatbelt..it was about $40 ....either way its new and yer gonna pay that much in shipping if you buy one used online..and depending where you live there isn't much in the way of garage sales during the winter...

Unfortunately it is NOT AT ALL safe to buy a used car seat. You never know when the safety expires on it, if the car seat was in an accident, or how old the seat is. It is better to just find one on sale, or at a place like overstock.com.

Check to see if there is a freecycle organization in your area. People give away things on this site. I've gotten a few things from our local freecycle and everything is in great condirtion. I would buy new you dont know if has a problem it may look fine but do you wanna trust your childslife to it. I bought mine at walmart it was only 20 they arnt expensive if you dont need all the bells and whistle.
