We've been dating for about 2.5 months and he caually asked about it one morning after we had spent the night together. Could this mean he's evaluating a potential future together? It seems like he would avoid the topic entirely, otherwise.

When my boyfriend and I started talking about kids, we had only been about 2 months into our relationship. I just figured he wanted to know more about me, which in a sense is true, but like you said, he's probably evaluating a potential future with you and probably likes you.
My Boyfriend and I are now trying to have kids, so maybe he wants to know if you want them so maybe you guys can start hehe.

You know babe, since I would like more children I wouldn't waste my time having a relationship with someone that didn't want kids...or at least was open to the idea. Its not say I won't change my mind if I really like someone and want to have them all to myself....but I am not going to waste my time on someone that I at least don't have the possibility.
I would say he is likely evaluating the relationship potential....which is good, whether it works out or not, it def means he isn't just sleeping with you.

I think he's just trying to get your feelings out in the open on the subject. tell him how you really feel and don't hold back or say what you THINK he wants to hear and I would hope he'd do the same. Then the future can unfold from there.

He should have asked earlier in the relationship but yes, it sounds like he is considering you in his future. You might want to ask around to see if he already has kids.
