Jesus is a variation of the Hebrew name "Yehoshua" (ye-ho-shOO-a), written יהושוע, or יהושע (with vowel marks: יְהוֹשֻׁעַ). Joshua is the latinized form of this name.
In the New Testament in Hebrew he is known as "Yeshua" (ye-shOO-a), written ישוע (with vowel marks: יֵשֻׁעַ).
In Hebrew we call Jesus "Yeshu" (yEh-shu), written ישו (with vowel marks: יֵשׁוּ)

Hebrew uses a different alphabet, so there are some variations on spelling it in Roman characters. Yehoshua is good. (Ye-ho shu'a)
The English equivalent is actually Joshua.
Yeshua is a later dialectical form of Yehoshua that was in vogue for a few hundred years during the period of the Second Temple. It's not clear which one his momma gave him. Her name would have been Miriam bat Yoachim v'Hannah.

Either Yeshu or Yeshua, spelled ישו or ישוע (Yod Shin Vav or Yod Shin Vav Ayn).
Yeshu (pronounced Yeshoo) is MUCH more prevalent nowadays.
If you'd say YeHOshua to any Hebrew-speaker, trust me, they would never know you're referring to Jesus.
