Funny thing about that. When He invented the phone, he took the idea to Western Union, and they told him that no one woud be interested in it. The rest is history.

Why is an interesting question, why does anyone do anything because he can. In answer to part two without phones people would die, seriously the invention of the phone has bought medical help to us faster, ambulance, police and fire brigade in emergency situations. On a less serious note but serious none the less is that parents can be in contact with their kids without embarrassing them in front of peers. My daughter and I had a code when she wanted to be picked up and wanted to save face in front of her friends. Elderly people living alone have instant help or are able to chat to others safely...there are a lot of reasons we have phones and I just am happy they were invented.

He was trying to help the deaf. They are part of our lives and we don't even notice life without phones. What do you think, it's your assignment?
