Call the county department of social services where you think the removal happened. Even if s/he's no longer in that county, whereabouts should be traceable throughout the state.

If you don't know the state, then you might have to do an in depth search.

The social services should want to hear from you. They're always glad to hook foster kids up with family again, if the family are good people.

Thats not really easy thats for sure. My husband and I have a foster child but we didn't pick her, she was given to us. The first step would be to contact the Department of Family Services in your area and explain to them what it is you're needing. Then you have to go through a training class, and some certifications and whatnot. I might take a month or so but you should be able to get everything ironed out and get him in your care shortly depending on how quick you complete everything.

I would suggest going to the department of Humand Services (DHS) in your area. If you are not sure where this is than call 411, the police station, or a hospital. The hospital and the police station have to use foster care services when they suspect neglect.

If the child was removed through the state Child Protective system, there is usually a general hotline to report abuse for each state. If you call that hotline and inform them who you and and who your brother is and that you would like to care for him, they will be able to put you in contact with his caseworker, who will then help iron out the details necessary for obtaining custody. You can find the number to your state's CPS by going to the state's website.

Call your local human services organization and tell them what you wrote here. You will likely have to get your foster care license if you need financial assistance raising him but you may not have to do that if you can afford to raise him without state assistance because you are family.
