With a 45, which has an impact force of 2,000lbs, psi (per square inch), any hollow point will do the job.

The entry wound is the size of a dime, the exit wound, . . . .the size of a grapefruit.

Your question is similar to asking what the best artillery shell would be in hunting rabbits. . . . .I think it's called . . . gross overkill.

Back in the old days before the leftist media introduced the ficticious "cop killer bullets" The Black Talon was a real good one (it is said it can only rip one inch holes in cops and liberal news people through 2 inches of kevlar so it was banned). In reality (if you believe in something like that) The best choice is to keep one mag of frangible in the gun, and a backup mag of good old fashioned factory load 230 grain .45 JHP hollow points just in case. Way too many situations where a bystander behind a sheetrock wall or 3 blocks away could be hit. Oh yeah... HK... Nice device.

The Gold Dot is indeed a thoughtfully designed bullet, and the other manufacturers offer at least vaguely similar designs, based on your perceived needs. But of course, Murphy's law suggests that when you need a bullet with certain characteristics you'll be loaded with another bullet that's best for another circumstance. And keep in mind that even the Germans can't suspend the laws of physics: the farther away from hardball you get, the more likely you'll have feeding problems.

Check out the Speer GoldDot - it's considered superior to the HydraShok.

Nothing wrong with a simple hollow point, that will tear them up badly.
