I don't think we should lose respect for anyone. Even the most despicable criminal.
But when I say "Respect", I don't mean reverence, I just mean it's not an opportunity to damage someone, or treat them as less than human.
I guess it's easier said than done, but we should try.

i lose respect when people don't respect other people. No one seems to think about how others may feel. But, more specifically, I lose respect for people that insult my family (i.e. my husband when he's mad at me).

When they repeatedly treat you poorly, and despite their assurances to the contrary, they continue the behavior.
Verbal abuse is a good example of poor treatment that causes one to lose respect.
Just say no to people who don't respect you.

I lose respect for a man.. when he doesnt show respect for a woman... at even little things

and i lose respect for a woman when she loses her self-respect!

MY BEST FRIEND WHO SHALL REMAIN NAMELESS IS A BAD PERSON. FOR INSTANCE, SHE ROBBED EVERY EMPLOYER SHE EVER WORKED FOR, SHE HAS A NEED TO BE BETTER THAN EVERYBODY, ETC. AD NAUSEUM. SHE HAS TO MAKE PEOPLE FEEL JEALOUS OF HER, SHE THRIVES ON PEOPLE ENVYING HER. I NEVER DO, BECAUSE I KNOW THAT SHE WAS MOLESTED AS A CHILD AND THAT IS ONE OF THEIR SYMPTOMS AS ADULT TO BE BETTER THAN OTHERS BECAUSE WHEN THEY WERE RAPED AS CHILDREN, THEY FELT NO GOOD. I ACCEPT THAT THIS IS HER-EVEN THOUGH I DIDN'T FIND OUT ABOUT HER MOLESTATION UNTIL WE WERE IN OUR 10TH YEAR AS FRIENDS AND I LEARNED FROM A THIRD FRIEND. THAT IS HOW SHE IS, I DO NOT RESPECT HER, BUT SHE IS STILL MY FRIEND AND HAS BEEN FOR ALMOST 20 YEARS.

There's a couple of good answers for this one.......when they lie, cheat, if they treat others the wrong way.......mistreating humans and/or animals, using drugs, stealing, ect.

When I find out that he beats his wife, harbors illegals or, most of all, talks about equality while taking advantage of racial preferences.
