only with an instructor, you can be as young as ten I believe, the school i learnt at allowed these flights. It mainly depends upon weight of the child.

They have them at shopping malls.
A real helicopter is very unstable in a hover and requires a lot of training and skill to fly.
As a side note: when I was seven I took my first flight in a Bell 206 helicopter. The pilot left the aircraft with me in the left seat with the engine running to pick up some stuff. Its scary since I read about dynamic roll-overs with unattended helicopters every month in the Safety Letter.

Are you talking about a REAL helicopter that a child could fly? Hmm....well, other than stealing one and sending the kid to his death, you could maybe pay for a ride and ask the pilot if the child could hold the controls. That's probably the closest you'll get!

The closest thing I have seen to that is an amusement ride, but it wasn't a real helicopter. If you meant a real helicopter, well that would just be nuts.

why would you ever let your children into one of those? They would kill themselves in seconds...Helicopters are extremely difficult to fly and it takes years of practice to get goood at it. A helicopter toy for children would be a deathtrap.

I think the army will let you fly an Apache gunship in Iraq if you ask them nicely. Though no shooting at the Taliban...or it's off to bed without supper for you young man!
