I have a 1994 Nissan Maxima, and the brake lights will not shut off even when the car is off. I unlpugged the battery so it doesn't die but I am wondering what is causing this? I read somewhere that there is a switch under the brake pedal that might be stuck? I did not feel a switch under the pedal, and wondering if that only applies to newer cars. I am a chick but pretty good with fixing stuff and have no money to go to a mechanic for atleast 2 months. Please help :)

The switch isn't under the pedal, it is higher up on the pedal's armerature, This does sound like your problem, However, if a new switch doesn't fix it, then you probably have a wire crossed somewhere. Good luck, and Merry Christmas.
