Our little grandson who is just three weeks old visited us last week - he and his brother and mom and dad flew here. They had no problems - he did not even cry on the plane. More of a problem on the plane would be the recycled air that might have a lot of germs in it.

I can't believe no one has suggested this yet... DEFINITELY time the baby's feeding with departure. You don't want the baby starving, but you don't want him/her hungry for when you take off. Ascension and descension is when the air pressure in the cabin poses the most problems, and if the baby is sucking on a bottle or nursing then they will have less ear pain. The same is true for descent - try to get the baby to eat or at least suck on a pacifier on the way down. And btw, going during RSV season is NOT a good idea for an infant especially if the baby was premature.

Air travel is as safe for infants as for adults -- that is, your baby will be breathing recycled air and may be exposed to cold and flu viruses, but if s/he is in good health then that shouldn't be a big problem.
The pressure difference, though, will be painful, so your baby will cry. Be prepared for that.
If I were in your place, I'd postpone the trip for another three months at least. But if you have to go, then call the airline customer service office for more specific advice. Good luck and safe journey.

I don't think there should be a problem. A friend took her 4 month old baby on a plane he did fine. Just get some ear plugs.
Enjoy your trip.

You should be fine. You cannot hold/carry a baby over age 2. Your flight will pretty much suck if you try it over age one.
