If you had not mentioned the fact that you use the wine to deal with issues, the answer would have been different.
A bottle contains, at best, 5 glasses, which is not going to do you much harm, especially in the short term. The issue here is that you aknowledge that you drink for a reason. I would advise you to keep a very close tab on why you are drinking and the amount as it can start to escalate. One bottle becomes two, then spirits start being drunk and before you know it you are on a very steep and slippery slope.
You sound like a reasonable person that is not afraid to show their emotions. However, I would encourage you to go and talk to someone who maybe able to help your life problems out before things start getting worse.

It certainly sounds like you are concerned that you might have a problem with alcohol. The fact that you get cravings for wine, and that you find it difficult to go without alcohol for a day, suggests you could be developing a dependency.
You ask if it's 'badl' for some people to drink a bottle of wine a day.
It might be fairly common, but drinking this much certainly isn't recommended. In fact, official government guidelines suggest that men should drink no more than three to four units per day and women no more than two to three units per day. It's also a good idea to have a few alcohol-free days each week. A bottle of wine contains about six units, so the amount you are drinking on a daily and weekly basis is around double the recommended maximum. Drinking this much can put your health at risk, and won't solve your problems.
If you think you'd like to talk to someone about your drinking habits, you can contact Drinkline. This is a free, national helpline offering advice to anyone worried about their drinking, or someone else's. You can call Drinkline on 0800 917 8282. The lines are open 9am-11pm Tuesday to Thursday, or any time between 9am on Friday and 11pm on Monday.Good luck.

Drinking is not the way forward. A glass of wine a day will do you know harm. But as alcohol is a depressant, drinking to block things out will only make things much worse in the long run. Perhaps seeking advice from your GP would be the best way forward. My mum was in exactly the same situation, she is on anti depressant and no longer dirnks & she feels so much better for it. Its just taking that initial step to seek some professional help.......Good Luck

If you need to drink a bottle of wine a day to help you deal with your life, you have a drinking problem. There are many ways to deal with painful issues that are constructive.Start with getting some counseling from a mental health counselor or clergy. You have a problem and you are adding alcoholism to depression. If you don't already have liver problems, you're heading there. There are people out there who can help you. Find an AA group and ask this question.

Yes it is very bad for your system to drink a whole bottle. Bring it down to a couple of glasses dude. Also dealing with the issues are better than forgetting them. Get rid of the issues, you wont need the alcohol. It is my belief that alcohol needs to be a facilitator of fun, not a problem solver.

You are doing what I used to do so it sounds like you have a drink problem. There is a way to find out-I would suggest an AA meeting to listen to their stories. That was the method I used and I managed to stop drinking with AA's help. A great fellowship of men and women.

Whether you drink to be sociable or to alleviate any problems in your life it is not a good idea to drink this amount on a daily basis. I'd advise you to cut back on the wine and talk to someone about the issues that are causing the problems in your life. It's too easy to lecture someone on their lifestyle but you have my sympathy. If you can't live in a situation change it, if you can't change it, adapt to it, if you can't adapt to it, leave it. Move on, you only have one life.

rogers ..at this pace u will soon end up having a new issue- health issue...
each body has a limited capacity to metabolise the free calories available in wine or any alcholic drink...& if the imbalance happens...it results in flabs & also affects the coronary artery...leading to so much complex problems..
refrain from that ..make it a bi-weekly affair to start with...& watch movies to fight away the lonliness & have sex...
socialise..
all d best..

Well, red wine is good for somethings in your body... but having too much of something is never a good thing.
You have bigger problems that you're trying to substitute with alcohol which is never a good thing.
Try minimizing your behavior to a glass a day, it's safer for you. If you can't stop then you'll need to get help.
