No, don't ever give a cat any medication unless you check it out with a vet first, cats are very sensitive and many medications can kill them. Your cat should not need anything for pain when getting stiches taken out...it is not painful at all, just a little tug and they are gone. By the time the sutures come out, the wound is healed enough so that it is not even very tender anymore. I have taken stiches out of hundreds of animals and never had any react as if they were in pain. Most did not even know we did anything to them.

i'm hoping you mean drug, and which you will "understand" the respond. Hydrocodone is a man made narcotic for the scientific care of soreness. that's often given in pill variety with the two Tylenol or Aspirin interior the aggregate. Dosages may well be as extreme as 10.1000mg, consistent with soreness point. 10 represents the ten mg of hydrocodone, the only thousand mg represents the quantity of Tylenol (APAP) or aspirin given. kind names are Vicodin, Lortab, Lortab plus, and a few different kind names. Hydrocodone is considered a narcotic.

NO WAY!! Hydrocone is acetominophine, or Tylenol and it is toxic to cats, even in small doses. Call the vet who put the stitches in and they will take them out. Why would you want to do it yourself? The vet will do it for free. I am a vet tech, and my Dr. just spayed my kitten last week, and although I know how to do it and probably could do it at home, I will take her to work with me and he can do it and look and make sure it is all healed and no problems such as suture reaction or a hernia at the incision site....rare but possible.

Cats don't need sedation for suture removal...It doesn't hurt at all. the only time I have ever seen a sedation for suture removal was when the animal was so aggressive that we couldn't touch it any other way. What a joke.

Stitches should be taken out at the vet. When your cat is in this process then the vet knows exactly what to give your cat and how much of it. Your cat will be in the best hands at the vets office.

If you aren't a vet and liscensed to give animals medications you could end up injuring/killing her... human medications are in much stronger doses than cat/dog meds... you could give her an overdose, becasue who knows how much is too much when you've never studied vetrinary science.
If you are worried, ask your vet if there is something you can do to calm her down before the procedure... or many pet stores have herbs/supplements ment to "calm" pets down, it just puts them in a more relaxed state and perhaps she will be a little more at ease when you take her to the vet.

The removal of stitches will be over before the cat knows it.

Give a kitty people medicine is dangerous. I wouldn't do it. Ask your vet if he/she thinks it's necessary to give kitty anything beforehand.

What seems like a little to you may kill your cat. I wouldn't do it.

I took the stitches out myself bec they got infected. I held her down with someone helping me and removed them with no meds. Oh, I was told by my vet you can give then baby Tylenol infant drops,
I've given to my dog and cat. I guess growing up around farms you learn a couple of things about animals

Never give cats unprescribed medication without the authority of a vet. Human medication can kill or harm cats.

Not a good idea.

After we took our kitties to get fixed, we didn't even bother taking the stitches out: The stitches dissolved away as the surgery areas healed.
