that the Qu'ran is mistranslated and wrong?

If your answer is no, then why would you judge the Bible in this way?

Before you answer, I am Catholic, and the english translation I read from is based on the same ancient manuscripts in thier language (Hebrew, Aramaic, Greek) that have been used for almost two thousand years.

It is almost entirely considered accurate to whatever the original was by scientists, historians, and archaeologists, and yet this arguement continues.

There is only one Qur'an (in arabic), memorised word for word by more than a million muslims, no christian could say that about the Bible

The Bible is not only translated differently, but some Bibles have different books in them that are not in other Bibles

A translation is the translators interpretation of the original text. Different translators will always translate some things differently, especially when their is a word or a phrase that does not have an English equivalent.

On top of this certain foreign phrases when translated directly into English sometimes do not make sense- a case in point look at many english translations of Chinese signs.

At the end of the day there is only one Quran- and that is in Arabic. Translations aren't the Quran they are translations of the Quran.

Well, as a translator, you would be aware what I am aware of. That something is *always* lost in the translation. It can be translated accurately, yes, but something's always lost. For example, The Psalms, and the Song of Solomon DEFINITELY lose something in the translation, although they are accurate translations. When I translate for Russians, and they say: "Zdrastvwee-tyeh" I do not translate to the other person: "Good health to you!", I just translate "hello". And even if I gave a word for word literal translation, the flavor wouldn't be the same. It's what made God's confusing the languages at Babel so thorough and immensley intelligent.

For example, we can accurately translate a name, like YHWH. We're not sure of the pronunciation, or the vowels, but that's true of a lot of names in Hebrew. We can't be certain of how Jeremiahs' name actually sounded. But we translate YHWH as Yahweh. But I've never seen a translation that gives the full flavor to Yahweh's name, as a causitive verb in the continuous active sense, which to literally translate it could mean of "shall become whatsoever to become continually"; which to the Hebrew mind, would signify that God the Father / Yahweh can become anything he needs to become to fulfill his purpose. Although it is clear from the Bible, that Yahweh wishes ALL people, of all national groups and tongues to hear his word. Being written in three languages, it becomes clear that he does not mind translation. :^) If it is an accurate translation, the truth of God goes beyond mere human words.

Speaking as a Christian, if Muslims don't like their Qur'an translated, then I guess I can see their point from that standpoint. I'm not sure what the official reasons are, or if this idea comes from the Qur'an itself. I guess that's one area I need to educate myself.
