He was a man of forgiveness like we should be. Pope John Paul II was truly a man of God. The best one we had

While you'll see many answers on this one, ranging from "That's the true behavior of a christian" to "what a good man" to "That what God expects a pope like that to do" and so on and on and on....

The truth of the matter, when it comes to morality, right and wrong, good and bad, the pope has a LOT to pay for. Not just Pope John Paul, but this other carsalesman who's out there now, whatsisname, Benedict Pope the 643rd or something.

Do you know how many times the pope has lied in his life? His youth, for example? How many times in a day even? Maybe as a kid, he stole something! Who knows? So, to say that he did something "good" like forgiving the man who shot him.... that's what he was SUPPOSED to do, the same as me, you, or anyone else! Whether we do it or not, is one thing...but it's expected of us to be 100% righteous, in thought, word, and deed 24 hours a day 7 days a week in order to reach heaven, for example.

But neither myself, (not me by a LONG shot) nor you, nor the past pope, or this one is by anymeans perfect, holy, or especially "righteous" before God. Which means we'd need something done for our sins. Mine. Yours. The Dopes, er...the Popes, and every single human being that requires air.

That's why the Lord Jesus Christ sacrificed himself on a cross before God. He alone brought our standing before the eyes of God as miserable sinners, to perfect, blameless and holy.

Through his blood we can be presented now unto God holy and righteous. Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and the act of forgiveness that was done due to HIM, and not this pope religious liar guy, whose profession is about as holy as a paperboy's.

believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you shall be saved.

I was of two minds.
1 - Only the Pope could forgive his attacker.
2 - I don't think I could do that. So I reflected on being me, and now I think I may be could forgive my attacker. (I hope never to be put to the test!)

Very amazing act in todays revenge minded world.
Eye-for-an-eye; gangster mentality being so over exposed in video games and TV/movie stories.

The act itself is a symbol of what Christianity should be. But in public view? Didn't the Bible said something like don't let your left hand knows what your right hand has done?

Well, he must be a strong man. I could never forgive a man that shot me.

He is a big man for doing that, and I quess that is one of the reasons he became Pope.

He was doing what the bible told us to do when it says (i dont know the exact verse but thats what it is meant by it): U should love your enemies and bless those people who hate and curse u. And that's what he did.
