You can have a disease calles seasonal depression. Basically, there is less sun time during the winter and our bodies need the sun to promote serotonin stimulation. So yes, winter can cause depression. If you think you have it a Dr might tell you to get a lamp that acts like the sun and to sit outside for a few hours a day in the winter when you can.

Winter depression is called SAD aka Seasonal Affective Disorder. There is less daylight so you can show more signs of depression during the winter. One treatment is to buy a lamp made especially for this that help simulate the outdoor light.

There is a form of depression caused Seasonal Affective Disorder. That might be what you're thinking of. Just google it and you should be able to find out more about it. Like someone else said, lack of sunlight has something to do with it. I used to use tanning beds in the winter to help with mine. If you don't want to use tanning beds (completely understandable!) make sure you're getting plenty of Vitamin D.

It can if that person has something called SAD-Seasonal affective disorder. It usually occurs in the winter and what happens is people get depressed, they lose their appetite, they become lethargic, and are just gloomy. The season changes and they're alright again. So, winter can cause depression.

Yes, the lack of sunlight can. It's called SAD, or Seasonal Afective Disorder. People who have this use UV lamps or move to a sunny climate. I hate it when it rains & is dark & cloudy. Just want to stay in bed all day.
