I am in 9th grade and it's almost second semster. For my electives I chose band, 3D art, and drama. Band is all year and I had art this semester. On my schedule it says I have drama next semester but some of my friends had it this semester and say that the teacher is really mean and you have to do lots of presentations in front of the class so now I am thinking about switching to basic life skills which was my next choice for an elective. I really want to be in drama because I love acting but I don't want to have a mean teacher and make presentations. I really want to take basic life skills because you get to learn how to budget and take care of a baby. Plus my teacher would be the same person I had last year for sewing class and I know she is nice. If I switch out of drama, I need to do it sometime this week so I really need help deciding what to do. It's really hard because I want to do both but both have their negatives and positives. Please help me! Quitting band is not an option!

Dont listen to what everyone says about your drama teacher. They may be mean but they may not. And drama is mostly presentations in front of the class. If you love acting, do drama, you can always drop/add. I know in my school, our drama teacher can be a jerk but a lot of people like him. I've never had his class because i just havent had the room in my schedule. You still have 3 years in high school, you can take life skills next year. Sometimes you have to step outside of your comfert zone, who knows, drama might end up being your favorite class but, its your choice. But trust me, i know what i'm talking about.

Well, part of acting and drama is making presentations. And maybe the presntations are more fun than people say. Also, you're friends may not exactly see eye-to-eye with that teacher, and they might think she's mean, but you might end up liking her.

It might just be easier to stay in drama and maybe take life skills next year. If you end up not liking your drama teacher, then try to switch out early next semester. If you can't do that in your school, then at least you know not to take any other classes with that teacher.

So I would stay in drama and take life skills next year. Good luck!

Why not start with drama. One person's opinion of a teacher may not be the reality of the situation. Maybe your friend did not do her work and the teacher was mean because of that. If it turns out the the drama really IS too hard for you, transfer out of the elective into the Basic Life Skills.
