Beretta has a long and successful history of firearms manufacture, but be careful about buying their new PX4.

I shot one and it's nice. Not as nice as a Glock 17 or Springfield XD mind you and no where near a HK USP...but nice.

I would advise against buying any new model of firearm. Time and again, there are some bugs still not worked out yet and the people who buy in the first year or so are the ones who pay for the mistakes.

The PX4 is an outstanding pistol with a lot of useful features. The interchangeable backstraps on the grip allow it to be fitted to many different hand sizes, aiding user friendliness. The controls are well thought-out and placed, and those can be interchanged as well to suit the needs of the user. The rotating barrel system is one of the strongest handgun actions available, and also aids accuracy because the barrel rotates on its axis rather than tipping down as on the more common Browning type locking system. Less movement off the axis means more mechanical accuracy. Felt recoil is also attenuated by the rotating barrel, and the pistol has a recoil buffer built into the recoil spring guide rod. All in all it's a great pistol that conceals well for a full-sized frame(I carry mine every day), and is super accurate.

I highly recommend it!
