Switch to a better Shampoo and Conditioner. The Best I know is Dove.
Use a Colestaral product in your hair.
Quit Blow drying if your doing that.
You'll probably be told to cut and intch off your hairt by most people to get rid of split ends (that always sucks because whoever gets their hands on my hair reduces my hair to one inche >.< ).
I have a tips,.. comb your hair while it's wet right out of the bath/shower (you can towel yourself and put a towel around your neck,.. just don't dry your hair first),... DO NOT BLOW/HAIR DRY... learn to take showers only when you can sit around waiting for your hair to dry naturally in doors. NEVER USE A BRUSH! They are awful monsters and create alot of problems, split ends, and static in your hair. Try to resist the urge to comb your hair while dry,.. remember to NEVER use a brush. [Try to get strong combs with gaps bigger then or exactly as big as the size of the teeth... ones close together just generate more damage like brushes do.]
Some people use a leave in by infusium to coat their hair (these people may like to blow dry).
If you ever contemplate straightening or trying to get your hair more manageable... go to a Salon (even if they can be evil) and ask to have your hair Relaxed. It will not produce poker straight hair,.. it will make your hair straighter,.. there will still be curl, wave, or crimp to your hair some times. Your hair will be shiney, smooth, and manageable then without all the destruction other methods produce.
It's going to be up to you to figure out what you can deal with, love best and what works with your hair the best. Noone can know your hair perfectly,.. even the people in salons.
Added: People are suggesting Hot Oil and Coconut Oil treatments. Many people have bad reactions to these but may not know it. People are often allergic to coconut. Hot/Warm Oil treatments people can be allergic to the oil or the addative,.. the hot/warm Oil can strip your hair of some natural oils and other things that are naturally in your hair. Deep Conditioners are AWSOME.

There is only so much you can do at home, head to the salon for results. People always think that natural is healthy, better, easier. I am a 13 yr vet and the most troublesome hair can be the naturally nappy kind. Nappy aint always happy. you need to check in with a professional at least once per month for deep coditioners and trims for best results.

I've damaged a comb even as looking to comb my hair earlier than...however I'm white I consider common hair is lovely regardless that :D @thecannibal: I consider woman fros are horny (now not joking). Different strokes for one-of-a-kind humans I bet. And I actually would simplest watch the primary two mins of that video when you consider that I could not pay attention to that little woman scream in discomfort or pay attention her mom CURSING at her any further :(

This is a good time to switch to protective styles such as 2 strand twists.. That way u can put your hair up in twists, leave it for a few weeks, then take it down for a bangin twistout for a few days, then right back up in twists. That way you manipulate your hair less.. All that afro picking, detangling, ect, will make your hair snap like a twig if done daily. Especially in the cold winter months.

For starters, Get a good moisturizing shampoo + conditioner. Then you need a good weekend moisturizer and perhaps a styling cream.
Im currently using Suave 2 + 1 kids shampoo/conditioner... believe it or not, its helping make my hair soft.
For a moisturizer, im using organic root stimulator's Carrot Oil.
(it helps make hair softer and stops breakage -- I noticed a difference after using it for 2 days)
I just bought AUSSIE CALM THAT FRIZZ! styling cream.
(It helped soften my hair and made it more manageable)

GO TO A DRUG STORE, YOU CAN DO EITHER A HOT OIL TREATMENT OR THEY HAVE THIS JAR WHERE THE HAIR DYES ARE AND ITS CALLED CHOLOESTRAL. YOU REALLY DON'T HAVE TO USE A LOT. AND THE JAR SHOULD LAST YOU FOR A WHILE, PUT THAT ON YOUR HAIR AFTER YOU WASH IT. WRAP A TOWEL AROUND YOUR HEAD AND LEAVE IT ON FOR 10 MINUTES. RINSE IT REALLY GOOD. IT WILL CONDITION YOUR HAIR AND ROOTS. AND WILL LEAVE YOUR HAIR NICE AND SOFT. DO IT TWICE A WEEK AT FIRST THEN CUT DOWN TO ONCE A WEEK. IT REALLY WORKS.

Try V05 hot oil it can be bought at most supermarkets and chemists and its cheap and easy to use. Try to have regular hair cuts and brush your hair only when it's dry and do so with care.
