If you are really worried about how much you spend on him I would say you should talk to him and work out a spending limit. That way you both know you'll be on the same page with spending. Or if you don't want to do that, just go shop and see what you get. Sometimes gifts that don't cost too much but have sentimental value are better than those more expensive gifts.

Just depends on how much you care about him and as much he does for you and you and him should set a price limit neither one of you can spend more than the price you set on each other.

i say no more than 50 dollars that way you wouldnt lose out on anything just spend 50 dollars on something that look like it cost more than 50 dollars (cheat cheap secret) because he'll spend that much when ya'll go out to dinner and a movie
