I have a domestic black house cat, who's on the larger side. What's a cats life span?

on average cats lives from anywhere between 15 to 25 years. It also depends on: how healthy the cat is, if it had any previous owners, and the breed of a cat. BTW, a mixed breed cat is more likely to live longer b/c they a less prone to the health issues of a pure breed cat. (but they all require shots, especially if they go outside)
hope this helps!!

18-20 is really old for a cat. However I recently visited someone who had a 22 year old cat who looked like a kitten. The man stated that her littermate, a male had just died 3 weeks earlier.
But I am talking about indoor cats, The humane society where I live states in its literature that the life span of an outdoor cat is about 18 months.

The average is about 15 to 17 years in human years.
Aging a cat in cat years:
First year = 15 cat years
Second year = 9 cat years
Every other year after that = 4 cat years.

Our house cat is 13 in human years. In cat years he is 68.

Cats begin to be elderly at 8 to 10 years depending on the breed. Many cats live to ripe old ages of 15 to 18 years. At that point they're about 72 to 85 in human years. I had a cat who we believe lived for over 20 years, which put her between 90 and 100 in human years.
