A coworker is of the opinion that few women shave their pubic area. I told him that he has been out of circulation for much too long and that is it's actually fairly common-hence this question. (Yes, it IS a slow day here in the Quality Lab. lol)

Hoping that we can all be adults here, what is your experience as a woman or with your wife/girlfriend in regards to shaving this area? Also, if you do shave, is it fully so or just partially?

Thanks in advance for helping me win (I hope) this argument.

I only shave down there in the summer, and only partially.

I shave the bikini area, but hardly ever the actual private area. Sometimes, if I have money, I get the bikini area waxed, but this is only during the summertime, when I will be swimming, and I want it to look perfectly clean-shaven. I try to keep up with shaving my bikini area during the winter, even if I won't be swimming, b/c I don't like the way bikini hair looks. Once I did get a "Brazilian wax" which my whole private area was waxed, and I did not like the way it looked surprisingly---it looked like a baby or an alien. After that I decided I like to have some hair down there, but not a lot in the bikini area, but a little bit of hair covering looks better than no hair.

I have been shaving completely for about 6 years. Even through two pregnancies. Most of the girls I know also shave. In my opinion, it's cleaner, more sensitive, and looks better. I have been doing this for so long, it doesn't itch anymore afterwards. Any women that are considering it, use baby oil instead of shaving cream and if there is any discomfort afterward, use cornstarch. There are many over the counter creams or gels but usually expensive and in my experience, doesn't work that well. Good luck with the bet!

I work in a OB/GYN...the majority shave/wax it all, close second is the "landing strip" style shave/wax...very very few under 30 leave it au naturale. Personally, I prefer the better portion of it removed, but leave some because looking like a little girl freaks me out. I don't get bumps because I use Dove Invisible Solid Sensitive Anti persperant/deoderant after shaving (not internally of course)...I've done this for quite sometime, no problems here..............

well, i work as a beauty therapist so i of course wax, although ridiculously painful the sting goes away after about 20 mins and i would say that beats up to 5 days of itching after shaving wouldnt you? anyway in answer to your question i do not know of many women under the age of 25 that do not remove at least some of their pubic hair but at the same time i dont have many clients over that age who come for a brazilian or XXX wax (removal of pubic hair). but i think you win this one hands down.

i shave the bikini area when I am wearing a bathing suit, but shaving there is a huge pain and i had to get special aftershave that is designed for black men to use on their faces, b/c my skin is so sensitive.

since shaving is such a pain, though, to compromise, my spouse and i both trim the hair as short as possible so that it is not completely out of control down there.

anyone who has trouble with the itching and razor burn and the ingrown hairs when it grows back, this stuff is called BumpPatrol (?) and it works really well if you put it on right after you shave. it is like aftershave, though, so it burns a little for a minute or two.

I'm 23yrs old, married and have 2 kids, I have my pubic area for the simple fact that it's easier and cleaner. I never wanted to but my friend highly suggested it and I haven't been able to stop ever since. Sooo much more comfortable! Both for me and for my husband, if ya know what I mean... P.S. He shaves too and it's more comforting for me when I'm down there... no one likes to floss....

I shave 'landing strip' style, year round, and whats left is very short. And most females I know do it the same way. Totally clean-shaven sounds very scary to me. (The growing back part!) I don't care if nobody ever sees it again but me, its gonna be a tidy kitty!!
