I have never heard someone say that. I have heard people compare religions in historical contexts and I am sure the point has been made that while most Christian denominations have stopped killing people in the name of faith (for the past 200 years, in fact), the Muslims are still doing it on a regular basis.

Could you give the link to that being said? I've never heard it, and I've never said it.
EDIT: First of all, you misquoted Smiley George, and I believe you also missed his point. The question was about Christian worship being similar to Pharoah worship by the Egytians. George answered by saying: Where does that leave Muhammad then?
I think the point he was trying to make is that mideasterners are generally Muslims (because of the reference to EGYPTIAN worship). While it's not the kind of answer I would answer with, it doesn't imply what you are implying it implies.
Be blessed, and if you are going to ask questions like this, at least be honest about what was said and why.
I believe that non-christians can be honest, but it's stuff like this that makes all of you look bad. No conscience about twisting the truth or lying.

I'm going to be naughty and assume your question is roughly:
Why do people of one faith deflect questions about actions carried our in the name of their faith/church/deity by citing comparable actions carried out by others in the name of another faith/deity/church?
Well - its basically bad debating. People often take a defensive stance when they are in a debate about their faith - switching between defence of their personal faith (which is based on personal belief and experience) and the institution of their church (which they have little control over). It would be like asking a modern day German tourist to justify WW2 and being told Genghis Kahn was much worse than Hitler... (talk about off topic)
The simple answer is - individual members of a given faith are not responsible for the action in the name of their church in the past. For more modern issues - there are as many churches as there are individuals with faith, people who wish to cause chaos and destruction will find a reason to do so. It is a shame that the most popular schools of thought (religions) can be twisted to give them 'justification' for their actions.

I've never answered any question with another question. If that's how Smileygeorge answered, then perhaps you should ask him instead of inferring all Christians answer that way.

Christians don't do that, you need to ask the "individuals" who do that.. not all Christians.
